How to control your desire in positive way
However, we must learn to control our desires and learn how to forgo sometimes an immediate pleasure or reward in order to gain a more substantial one later. This means striving to always keeping our eyes on the “prize” while being patient for all the acts we perform that require patience.
Consider the experience of waiting for a friend. If we wait for him for an hour, we might become frustrated and tempted to leave. If, however, our friend calls and says that he will be arriving soon, we would probably feel a renewed desire to wait. This is because we have received certainty of his arrival. By achieving certainty of rewards for practicing patience we can continually revitalize our stores of patience.
Indeed, the patient will be given their reward without account! (39:10)
