Imaan is the foundation foundation of a believer

Imaan is the foundation of a believer

Definition of belief in islam| ruling on iman | believer in islam

When the foundation is firm, so too will be the structures erected upon it. There will always be a clash between the demands of imaan and the demands of people, the demands of occasions and gatherings etc. But as Muslims we need to ensure that we always give preference to the demands of imaan over everything else.

What is the benchmark by means of which a person can gauge whether his imaan is on par or not?

Allah Ta‘ala mentions in the Qur’an:

فَلا وَرَبِّكَ لا يُؤمِنونَ حَتّى يُحَكِّموكَ فيما شَجَرَ بَينَهُم ثُمَّ لا يَجِدوا فى أَنفُسِهِم حَرَجًا مِمّا قَضَيتَ وَيُسَلِّموا تَسليمًا

“They will not be true believers until they make you (Nabi sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) the judge to decide over all their affairs, and thereafter they do not have any reservations within their hearts and accept (your decision) wholeheartedly.”

The teachings and instructions of Prophet (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) should serve as final and one should not have reservations and complaints regarding any aspect of deen.
