STORIES IN SURAH AL KAHF

Stories from Quran

1️⃣STORY (Trail of Faith)- A number of young men were driven out of their homes because they believed in Allāh ﷻ. They ended up in a cave where Allah made them sleep for many years (309-300 year's ), When they woke up they felt they had slept for a day or half a day. One of them went to the town to get some food disguising himself thinking that the people would recognise & harm him. Only to find himself amongst a different people. The people of the town were amazed at his appearance of this man & the old coins he was using. The story shows us how Allāh ﷻ protects the righteous who believe in Him no matter how hard their situation is.

2️⃣ STORY(Trail of Wealth) - A man who owned two beautiful gardens, but he became arrogant & told his friend “I am greater than you in wealth and have more servants and attendants and children!!”( Quran 18:34)

The man forgot to be thankful for the bounties Allāh ﷻ has bestowed upon him, then Allah destroyed his gardens. This story is a lesson to those who take worldly matters for granted & forget that all that they have is from Allāh & He is capable of taking it all away if he wills

3️⃣ STORY(Trail of knowledge) - Mousa عليه السلام, was asked by Bani Israel who the most learned man amongst them. He said: “I am”. So, Allāh ﷻ said to him: “ Yes, at the junction of the two seas there is a slave of Mine who is more knowledge than you.” Mousa عليه السلام then asked how can he meet him.So Allah instructed Mousa as to where to find the man who was known as “Al-Khidr”-The Green One.Mousa goes on a journey with Al-Khidr where he learns the importance of patience & that Allah bestows his knowledge on whoever he wishes. Nobody should ever feel that he/she is the most knowledgeable, as all knowledge belongs to Allāh ﷻ

▪️Al-Khidr made a hole in the bottom of a boat who belonged to good people and Mousa asked him “what are you doing? Are you trying to drown these people? He then told him aren’t you patient?

▪️They move along & Al Khidr sees a young boy & he goes and kills him. Mousa becomes surprised & says did you just kill an innocent boy. Al-Khidr then tells him didn’t I tell you be patient. Mousa then said If he asks him about anything after this, he can leave him.

▪️They enter a village where people are rude & mean & refuse to show hospitality. They pass by a broken down wall. So they started rebuilding it. After they finished they moved on and Mousa was like “wait we aren’t getting paid for fixing it?? We could’ve gotten paid!

Al-Khidr then tells him: “That’s it, it’s time to separate. You can no longer be with me but before you go I’ll tell you what those three stops were all about.

▪️The first stop was about a king who was confiscating boats that were not damaged & the reason I made a minor hole is so that it doesn’t get taken away from the good people as for the

▪️second stop where I killed the boy, that boy was going to grow up & torture his parents.

▪️For the last stop, We rebuilt that wall for these orphan children who their father was a good man who had money buried under that wall for them and if it was falling apart the money was going to be exposed to the rude and greedy people of that village. So when they grow they can protect what’s theirs. This is what was going behind the scenes of what you couldn’t understand oh Mousa

4️⃣ STORY(Trial of Power) - The last story is about the righteous king who was known as Dhul Qarnayn who traveled the lands from West to East to astablish justice. On his last journey, he reaches a place between two mountains where he met a tribe of people. They asked him to build a wall between them & the people of Gog and Magog “Ya’juj and Ma’juj” who were causing mischief in the land.

Dhul Qarnain agreed to do so.He was not proud of his achievements, in fact, After he built that Great Wall The Quran states,“He said: ‘This is mercy from my Lord. But when the promise of my Lord comes to pass, He will make it level (with the ground), and the promise of my Lord is ever true’.”-(Quran 18: 98)
