Saying 'I love you,' when you first get married is easy.
Relationships tips for muslim youths
The honeymoon is beautiful, the restaurant and dessert missions are quite romantic, and the first year or so of getting to 'know' eachother is really nice.
But a couple of years down the line, we start to notice bad habits in one another and we start disliking things.
It's not cute to pick up his socks anymore. It's no longer fun working overtime to fund her addiction to hand bags and make up, being the Muslim Romeo and Juliet gets boring, and changing the nappies takes its toll - suddenly there are arguments, fights, and cussing - and saying those 3 special words aren't easy anymore.
But that's when Allah and His Messenger ﷺ want you to say those words.
If you've been through ups and downs, yelling and screaming - and you can still look at eachother and say, 'I love you' then that's a sign that you truly do love each other.
Relationships that have lasted for many decades aren't because of beauty or wealth or because they never fight.
It's because they went through smiles, tears, good times, bad times, wealth and poverty - and they still had the courage to continue and show, 'I love you!'
