How were the scholars of nation before the sending of Muhammad ﷺ
Shaykh-ul-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah - may Allāh have mercy on him - said:
“Every nation before the sending of Muhammad ﷺ, its Scholars were the most evil of them except the Muslims.
For their (the Muslims’) Scholars are the best of them.
They are the successors to the Messenger in his ummah and those who revive whatever died from his Sunnah. By them the Book is established and they are established by it. By them the Book speaks and they speak by it.”
