Not every speculation is a sin | Ibn ‘Uthaymeen

Not every speculation is a sin | Ibn ‘Uthaymeen

Ibn ‘Uthaymeen  -May Allah have mercy on him- Said;

Not every speculation is a sin.
If the speculation is built upon indications which almost reach certainty then theres no harm, as for speculation and suspicion from mere conjecture then that is not permissible.

For example if a man was to see another man with a woman and that man being seen has some outward signs of uprightness upon him, then it’s not permissible for the man seeing this to accuse the other man of being with a non relative woman, because this is from the blameworthy speculation which makes a person fall into sin.

However if the speculation is built upon a lawful and legislated reason, then there’s no harm in that, and there’s no blame if people had bad thoughts of him.

The scholars say: its prohibited to have bad thoughts on a Muslim who has signs of outward uprightness.
