Sadness is not prescribed in the Sharia(Islam)
Sheikh Yusuf Al-Sakit, may Allah preserve him, said:
Sadness is not prescribed in the Sharia (i.e. Islam).
The same thing applies to what causes sadness. Also, there are no texts (i.e., from the Quran or Sunnah) in praise of sadness or seeking it. Rather they (the texts) call away from it, and supplication that removes sadness has been reported in the Hadeeth.
