From the Etiquettes of Being a Guest.
Sufyān ath-Thawri, [may Allāh bestow mercy upon him], said:
“When you enter a house [as a guest], sit where the owner of the house instructs you to sit, to allow the occupant of the house to protect and keep private the exposed parts of his home from unwarranted gazes [i.e., an area he wants to screen]. This is how the Prophet, صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ had instructed us [to behave].”
Fath ul-Bāri, 2/292 | Al-Imām ibn Rajab al-Hambāli, [may Allāh bestow mercy upon him]
