What if a great opinion of the nation contradicts the command of the Messenger of Allah

Imam Ibn Rajab, رحمه الله , said

It is obligatory for everyone who has been informed of the Messenger’s command and knows it to explain it to the nation, advise them, and order them to follow his command.

And if a great opinion of the nation contradicts that, then the command of the Messenger of Allah, صلي الله عليه وسلم , is more deserving to be glorified and to be followed than the opinion of most of the people who wrongly contradicted his command in some things.
