Give charity because charity expiates sins | Islamic Reminders
It is mustahabb (recommended) for the Repentant to strive hard in doing righteous deeds after repenting from his sins and among the best of righteous deeds that the Repentant can do is giving charity, for charity is one of the greatest means of expiating sin.
The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said:
"..and charity extinguishes sin as water extinguishes fire.."
Sunan Ibn Majah 3973 | Hasan
and Allah Ta’ala says in Qur’an:
"Verily, the good deeds remove the evil deeds (i.e. small sins). That is a reminder (an advice) for the mindful (those who accept advice)."
Surah Hud (11:114)
"And verily, I am indeed forgiving to him who repents, believes (in My Oneness, and associates none in worship with Me) and does righteous good deeds, and then remains constant in doing them."
Surah Taha (20:82)
"Verily, those who give Sadaqat (i.e. and alms, etc.), men and women, and lend to Allah a goodly loan, it shall be increased manifold (to their credit), and theirs shall be an honourable good reward (i.e. Paradise)."
Surat al-Hadid 57:18
Charity expiates sins and the expiation of sins results in Paradise.
