Biography of the UMM AL ALA'

was a woman from the Ansar.

She gave the pledge of allegiance to the Prophet ﷺ.

She said, "The emigrants were distributed amongst us by drawing lots, and we drew 'Uthman bin Maz'un.

We made him stay with us in our house.

Then he suffered from a disease which proved fatal when he died, and he was given a bath and was shrouded in his clothes.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came and I said,

'May Allah be merciful to you, O Abu Sa'ib ('Uthman bin Maz'un)!

I testify that Allah has honored you.'

The Prophet ﷺ said: 

وَمَا يُدْرِيكِ أَنَّ اللَّهَ قَدْ أَكْرَمَهُ؟ 

"How do you know that Allah has honored him?'

"I replied, 'O Messenger of Allah, let my father be sacrificed for you!

On whom else shall Allah bestow His honor?'

The Prophet ﷺ said:

"As for him, that which is certain came to him.

By Allah, I hope for him good, but by Allah, I do not know what Allah will do with me, though I am the Messenger of Allah. ”

Umm al Ala' said,

“By Allah, I never attested to the piety of anyone after that."
