Biography of the UMM HANI' (FAKHITAH)

BINT ABI TALIB (رضي الله عنها)

She is the noble Companion Umm Hani', the daughter of the Prophet's ﷺ uncle Abu Talib.

She is the sister of 'Ali bin Abi Talib and Ja'far bin Abi Talib.

Her name is Fakhitah.

She delayed entering Islam. 

Ahadith:

She is from the scholars of Islam and she narrated 46 ahadith.

Those who narrated from her include:

Her grandson Ja'dah, her freed slave Abu Salih Badham, Kurayb (the freed slave of Ibn 'Abbas),

Abdur Rahman bin Abi Layla, Mujahid bin Jabr, Ata' bin Abi Rabah, 

'Urwah bin az Zubayr, and others. 

Her Family:

She was married to Hubayrah bin 'Amr.

He fled to Najran on the day Makkah was conquered.

She gave birth to Amr bin Hubayrah, Ja'dah, Hani'a, and Yusuf. 

She accepted Islam the day Makkah was conquered.

It is not mentioned by anyone that Hubayrah accepted Islam. 

Umm Hani's marriage from Hubayrah was dissolved due to her Islam and his remaining upon disbelief

Duha prayer:

The Prophet ﷺ entered her home the day of the conquest of Makkah and prayed eight raka'at for Duha prayer. 

Umm Hani' said:

"I went to the Messenger of Allah on the day of the conquest of Makkah and found him taking a bath, and his daughter Fatimah was screening him.

I greeted him with salam and he asked, 'Who is that?'

I said, 'I, Umm Hani' bint Abi Talib.'

He said, 'Welcome, O Umm Hani'.

'When he had finished his bath, he stood up and offered eight raka'at while dressed in one garment.

I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, my brother 'Ali alleges that he will kill a man to whom I have granted asylum.

The man is so-and-so bin Hubayrah.'

The Messenger of Allah said,

'O Umm Hani', we will grant asylum to the one whom you have granted asylum."

"Umm Hani' said, "That (visit) took place during the forenoon." 

'Ali bin Abi Talib placed his nephew Ja'dah bin Hubayrah (the son of Umm Hani') in charge of Khurasan. 

Umm Hani' lived until 50 AH.
