A woman has started to experience brownish discharge
A woman has started to experience brownish discharge and this is before her usual date. She has not experienced before this brownish discharge.
Should she stop fasting?
Answer: Barak Allahu Feek, what Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Baz (رَحِمَهُ ٱلله) has given in fatawa is that if there is no gap (of 24 hours) between the brownish discharge and the menstrual bleeding, than the brownish discharge, is considered as part of the menses. Otherwise, it won't be considered as menses.
For example, a woman experiences first and second-day brownish discharge and from the third day menstrual bleeding. So even the first and second day would be considered as days of menses.
On the other hand if the woman experienced brownish discharge on day one and two and then nothing on day three and on fourth day she experienced bleeding. Now since there has been a gap of 24 hours (or more) between the brownish discharge and actual bleeding. The first, second and third days aren't considered as menstrual days. She would consider only the fourth day as the starting day if her periods.
So based on the understanding above, she should note down the days and keep fasting and offering salah and mark the day she witnesses menstrual bleeding. If there was a gap of 24 hours or more between the last brownish discharge and bleeding, the days she fasted on are valid. So she has to make up fasts only from the day she experienced menstrual bleeding.
The days she fasted on, in which she experienced brownish discharge are valid days of fast due to the gap.
