Different ways of making duas
In these three verses are three different ways of making dua by three different prophets.21:83, 21:87, 21:89
Prophet Ayoub a.s asks Allah through his situation. He does
not literally utter his need. Rather, he utters his exact situation and channels his pain and feelings to Allah.
And when Job cried out to his
Lord, "I have been touched with adversity, and You are the Most Merciful of the merciful."
21:83
Prophet Yunus a.s remembers Allah, glorifies Him, and recognizes what he could have done better.
He does not echo what he needs, but he does echo his absolute
need for Allah.
And when the Man of the Whale stormed off in a rage, thinking
We would not restrain him.
Then in the 'veils of' darkness
he cried out,
"There is no god worthy of worship' except You. Glory be
to You! I have certainly done wrong." 21:87
Prophet Zakariya a.s makes a specific dua of exactly what he wants. He lays it out word for
word and is very clear and
hopeful in his Creator.
And when Zachariah cried out to his Lord, "My Lord! Do not leave me childless, for You are the Best of Successors." 21:89
*Come to Allah as you are.*
You can be very specific, or be hopeful in your future, or correcting of your past, or when
it feels just too much, be exactly you and channel your feelings to Him.
