The Importance of Ashura: Fasting and Its Historical Context

🌙THE MONTH OF AL-MUHARRAM🌙

❗️Tenth of al-Muharram & Killing of al-Hussain رضي الله عنه❗️

🎓 Shaykh Abdul Qadir Muhammad Al Junaid (حفظه الله)

📌 There is NO relationship between fasting on tenth of al-Muharram & killing of al-Hussain bin Ali bin Abi Taalib رضي الله عنهم which took place in the 61 Hijri. 

But its fasting and its name as the day of عاشوراء is from the days of ignorance before the advent of Rasoolullaah   صلى الله عليه وسلم. 

We fast on this day as a mark of gratitude to Allaah for saving موسى كليم الله from the enemy of Allah, Pharoah & his army.

And he who legislated fasting as Thanksgiving to Allah for us, is Rasoolullaah صلى الله عليه وسلم and had he not legislated it for us, we would've never fasted it.
