A Criteria for True Faith
Allah ﷻ says in the Qur'an:
قُل إِن كُنتُم تُحِبُّونَ اللهَ فَاتَّبِعُونِي يُحبِبكُم اللهُ
_Say if you Love Allah then follow me, Allah will love you._
[3:31]
Hasan Al Basri رحمه الله called this Ayah the Ayah of testing.
It tests the believers, that if they truly love Allah ﷻ, they will follow Muhammad ﷺ.

Anas ibn Malik رضي الله عنه reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, _“None of you have faith until I am more beloved to him than his children, his father, and all of the people.”_
[Sahih al-Bukhari 15, Sahih Muslim 44]

Narrated Abdullah bin Hisham رضي الله عنه:
We were with the Prophet ﷺ and he was holding the hand of Umar bin Al-Khattab.
Umar said to Him, _"O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! You are dearer to me than everything except my own self."_
The Prophet ﷺ said, _"No, by Him in Whose Hand my soul is, (you will not have complete faith) till I am dearer to you than your own self."_
Then Umar (رضي الله عنه) said to him, _"However, now, by Allah, you are dearer to me than my own self."_
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, _"Now, O Umar, (now you are a believer)._

A major aspect of having Ihsaan, (the highest level of Imaan) is to love the Prophet ﷺ unconditionally above everyone else!

In a hadith narrated by Anas رضي الله عنه:
A man asked the Prophet (ﷺ) about the Hour (i.e. Day of Judgment) saying, "When will the Hour be?" The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "What have you prepared for it?" The man said, "Nothing, except that I love Allah and His Apostle." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "You will be with those whom you love."
[Sahih al-Bukhari 3688]

The Sahaba رضي الله عنهم rejoiced like never before because of this Hadith!
Because of their complete love!

May Allah ﷻ make us among those love Him and His Messenger ﷺ and gather us among the righteous in the Hereafter.
*آمِيْن*
The rights of the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) are the greatest rights after those of Allah.
Through him, Allah saved many people from the depths of darkness and brought them into the light. Allah, may He be exalted, says (interpretation of the meaning):
“It is He Who sends down manifest Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) to His slave (Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)) that He may bring you out from darkness into light. And verily, Allah is to you full of kindness, Most Merciful”
[al-Hadeed 57:9]
“(This is) a Book which We have revealed unto you (O Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)) in order that you might lead mankind out of darkness (of disbelief and polytheism) into light (of belief in the Oneness of Allâh and Islâmic Monotheism) by their Lord's Leave”
[Ibraaheem 14:1].
If a person frequently mentions the name of a doctor at whose hands Allah caused him to be healed, and that is only concerning physical well-being, then how about the one at whose hands Allah brings about both spiritual and physical well-being?
It is one of the rights of the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) over his ummah that they should send a lot of blessings upon him in response to that favour and in fulfilment of some of his rights (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him).
Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Allah, may He be glorified, enjoined sending blessings upon him straight after telling us that He and His angels send blessings upon him.
What is meant is that if Allah and His angels send blessings upon His Messenger, then you should send blessings upon him, for it is more appropriate that you should send blessings upon him and greet him with salaam, because of what you have received of the blessing of his message.

Shaykh ‘Abd ar-Rahmaan as-Sa‘di (may Allah have mercy on him) said:
“O you who believe! Send your Salât on (ask Allah to bless) him (Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)), and (you should) greet (salute) him with the Islamic way of greeting (salutation i.e. As¬Salâmu 'Alaikum)”
[al-Ahzaab 33:56],
following the example of Allah and His angels, as a reward to him for some of the rights that he has over them, so as to perfect their faith and show respect, love and honour for him (sa), and as a means of increasing their good deeds and expiating their bad deeds.
End quote from Tafseer as-Sa‘di (1/671).
So blessings and peace of Allah be upon him, constantly, until the Day of Judgement, so long as night and day follow one another. Blessings and peace of Allah be upon him so long as righteous people remember him.
Do not deprive yourself of that virtue. May Allah help us and you to make the most of acts of obedience, and protect us from the evil of our own selves, for He is Most Munificent, Most Generous.

One of the millions things I love about the Prophet ﷺ was his humility and greatness as a leader.
Do you know when Sayyiduna Ali came to Madinah, his feet were swollen due to him walking for such a distance - the Prophet went to him and cried when looking at his state and then massaged his feet? A Prophet serving his follower in such a way. He didn't like his pillow to be softened more than others. He didn't let people walk behind him. He didn't like to sit high above others. If strangers walked in, they would need to ask where he was seated. He would go to the homes of the poor. He would share simple food with the weak. He accepted the invitation of those who had nothing. He would visit the ill and go to them barefooted. He would attend to the needs of slaves and sit with them. He gave women time and resolved their problems. In war, he would have ate the least but he would serve his companions. He would not eat until they finished and were full. He was fully accessible to the community. He did things himself. He didn't like people serving him. He partook in community projects and did physical work. He asked about everyone and wanted to know about them, and he cared about those who had nobody.

Ubayy bin Ka’b narrates:
“I went to the place where the Prophet ﷺ pointed to. I walked around the martyrs for a while looking for Sa’d and calling out his name. However, I could not get an answer. Then, I shouted, ‘O Sa’d! The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent me to you.’ Then, a weak voice answered. I turned to that direction. Sa’d was lying on the ground. I caught him in his last breath.
I said, ‘O Sa’d! The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered me to find out whether you were among the survivors or martyrs and inform him.’
Sa’d’s voice was very weak like murmuring. ‘I am among the dead from now on.’ He tried to say that he would not survive. He spoke with a voice that could hardly be understood. ‘Give the Messenger of Allah ﷺ my salam (greeting). Tell him that that Sa`d bin Rabi tells you, 'May Allah reward you with the best thing that He rewards a prophet for his people!' And give Ansar, my tribe, my salam and say to them, ‘Did you not promise in Aqaba that you would protect the Messenger of Allah ﷺ? By Allah, you have no excuse before Allah if your Prophet is hurt or harmed while your eyes still blink."

Safiyyah bin Huayy
"Safiyyah رضي الله عنها said that the Prophet (peace be upon him) used to be the most hated man to her. This was because they killed her people during the Battle of Khaybar.
The Muslims killed her husband, her father, and her uncle. They justly killed them in battle and they did not do so oppressively. She said, 'He was the most hated man to me, but he continued to treat me in a loving manner until he was the most beloved man to me.'
Look at the tremendous effects of good manners. The Muslims killed her husband, her father, her uncle, and her brother in the Battle of Khaybar. But she forgot about all of that due to the kind treatment of the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ. This is proof of his great character.
How else could a woman love a man who was responsible for the death of her family except if he had great morals and character?!

Narrated Ibn `Abbas:
The Prophet (ﷺ) was the most generous of all the people, and he used to become more generous in Ramadan when Gabriel met him.
Gabriel used to meet him every night during Ramadan to revise the Qur'an with him.
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) then used to be more generous than the fast wind.
رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سب سے زیادہ سخی تھے اور رمضان میں جب آپ سے جبرائیل علیہ السلام کی ملاقات ہوتی تو آپ کی سخاوت اور بھی بڑھ جایا کرتی تھی ۔ جبرائیل علیہ السلام رمضان کی ہر رات میں آپ سے ملاقات کے لیے تشریف لاتے اور آپ کے ساتھ قرآن مجید کا دور کرتے ۔ اس وقت رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم خیر و بھلائی کے معاملے میں تیز چلنے والی ہوا سے بھی زیادہ سخی ہو جاتے تھے.
