If Allaah wishes goodness for any person, He تعالى guides him to one of the two

If Allaah wishes goodness for any person, He تعالى guides him to one of the two:

1️⃣ He تعالى guides him towards doing good deeds

2️⃣ Or He تعالى prevents him from doing bad deeds

1️⃣ When Allaah تعالى wants to have mercy on a person, He تعالى reminds him of Allaah’s Mercy. And this encourages the person to be compassionate, and to work towards Allaah’s Mercy, so that Allaah has Mercy on him, as the Prophet ﷺ said:

وَإِنَّمَا يَرْحَمُ اللَّهُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ الرُّحَمَاءَ

❝and Allaah bestows His mercy only on those of His slaves who are merciful (to others)❞

📚 [Saheeh al-Bukhaaree and Saheeh Muslim]

And in another narration, he ﷺ said:

وَلاَ يَرْحَمُ اللَّهُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ إِلَّا الرُّحَمَاءَ

❝And Allaah does not bestow His Mercy, except on the merciful among His slaves.❞

📚 [Saheeh al-Bukhaaree]

2️⃣ And in oppose to this, if a person intends to take revenge or harm or malign someone, or take something unlawfully, then Allaah تعالى reminds him of His punishment, wrath, etc. So, when a person is reminded of Allaah’s punishment and wrath, it prevents him from acting unjustly towards others or harming them or maligning them, or from taking things unlawfully. Because a person knows that he is going to meet Allaah, and irrespective of how strong he is, he cannot bear the punishment of Allaah.

نسأل الله السلامة والعافية
