Taking account of deeds | Shaykh-ul-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah

Shaykh-ul-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah - may Allāh have mercy on him - said:

“It is necessary for a person to have an hour (a period of time) for himself in which he confides in his Lord, secluded by himself, taking himself to account.

His doing that is more preferable than gathering with the people and benfitting them.

Therefore, a person’s seclusion at night with his Lord is more preferable than him gathering with the people.”

[Sharh al-‘Umdah 2/789]
