📥Question:
A person blasphemed the religion, is there any repentance for him?
📤Answer:
The one that blasphemes the religion of Allah is a disbeliever, due to the statement of Allah the Most High:
"But if they violate their oaths after their covenant, and attack your religion with disapproval and criticism then fight (you) the leaders of disbelief (chiefs of Quraish - pagans of Makkah) - for surely their oaths are nothing to them - so that they may stop (evil actions)."
[At-Tawbah:12]
The disbelievers used to blaspheme Allah, the Most High, and His Religion the Truth, as the Most High said:
"And insult not those whom they (disbelievers) worship besides Allah, lest they insult Allah wrongfully without knowledge. Thus We have made fair-seeming to each people its own doings; then to their Lord is their return and He shall then inform them of all that they used to do."
[Al-An'ām:108]
If whoever from amongst those that did this repented, Allah will accept their repentance:
"Verily, He is the One Who accepts the repentance and forgives."
[An-Nasr:3]
Allah, the Most High, said:
"Say: "O 'Ibadi (My slaves) who have transgressed against themselves (by committing evil deeds and sins)! Despair not of the Mercy of Allah, verily Allah forgives all sins. Truly, He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful."
[Az-Zumar:53]
This generality includes the disbelief and what's lesser than it.
And while the repentance is sound, Ibn Taymiyyah, may Allah have mercy upon him, declared in "as-Sārim al-Maslūl" that they are to be disciplined with what will prevent them to go back to the likes of this.
I say:
The disciplining is implemented by those in authority.
And success is granted by Allah.
