SUMMARY OF THE QUR'ĀN JUZ 9
﷽
➖➖➖
Juz' 9 commences from *Ayah 88 of Surah Al-A’raf till ayah 40 of Surah Al-Anfal*
*Beginning of the Ninth Juz'*
In the remaining verses of Al-A’raf, Allah ﷻ tells us the *Story of Musa عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ and his struggle with the great enemy of Allah, the Pharaoh*. Furthermore, we are told of Musa’s عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ experiences with the Children of Israel with many important lessons for the Muslim nation.
Aptly, the chapter concludes by discussing the Qur’an and the *Role of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, a man, having Taqwa (God consciousness) and never too proud to worship Allah*, in complete opposite to the enemies discussed throughout.
The Juz' continues with the *chapter of Al-Anfal (the Spoils of War) revealed shortly after the Battle of Badr in 2nd year of Hijrah(624 CE)*. The lessons learned from the battle reinforce: the virtues necessary for *fighting in the Path of Allah, victory against the odds, leniency and consideration of others.*
Surah al-Anfal, a Madani Surah *reminds the Believers to obey Allah and His Messenger* and keep their relations good with each other. It has *given rules of war and peace* between Muslims and their enemies.
In this Surah, *Six times Allah has addressed Muslims with “O you who believe”* (8:15; 20; 24; 28; 29; 46)
*Main contents of the Surah*:
1. *Some lessons from the story of Prophet Shu’aib عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ.*
2. *Warnings against those who deny the Prophets and Messengers of Allah.*
3. *Prophet Musa عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ and his encounter with Firaun of Egypt.*
4. *Firaun and his magicians were defeated.*
5. *Firaun continued in his persecution of the Israelites.*
6. *Some more signs were shown to Firaun and his people.*
7. *The Torah was given to Prophet Musa عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ.*
8. *Some Israelites started Calf worship.*
9. *The Tawrat and Injil speak about the coming of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Allah’s promise for those who will follow the last Prophet.*
10. *Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is the Universal Prophet. Some among the people of Prophet Musa عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ were guided by the truth and lived with justice.*
11. *Some Israelites transgressed Allah’s laws and they suffered the consequences.*
12. *The eternal covenant of Allah was taken from all human beings.*
13. *The coming of the Last Hour.*
14. *Shirk has no logic. Ignore the wrongdoers, but invite to Allah with kindness. Listen to the Qur’an and always remember Allah.*
15. *Commandments relating to the spoils of war.*
16. *Allah’s help for the Believers in the Battle of Badr.*
17. *Believers must always obey Allah and His Messenger.*
18. *Only the righteous should be the guardians of the Masjid al-Haram.*
*What can we learn from this Juz'?*
🔹Whilst the conflict between Musa عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ and Pharaoh was intense, it only *led Musa عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ to place further his dependence upon Allah ﷻ;*
🔹 When times got hard, Musa عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ directed his people to *turn to Allah ﷻ for help, to be patient*, and reminded them that the *whole Earth belongs to Allah ﷻ and that the final end is for the pious*;
🔹 The mention of the inhabitants of the town by the sea that transgressed as regards the Sabbath and *the end result of those who tried to evade the laws of Allah ﷻ* through trickery;
🔹 *Allah’s ﷻ Mercy encompasses everything and He mentions that He will decree His Mercy especially for a group of His servants*. Ponder their qualities well so that you might be one of them;
🔹 About the *beginning of creation* and a *refutation of the belief that anything worshipped besides Allah can bring any benefit*;
🔹 About the Battle of Badr and the ruling of the spoils of war, which importantly is framed by *a reminder of the greater importance of Taqwa and keeping ties of kinship*.
