*AN ILLUSTRATION OF HELLFIRE*

*What They Eat & Drink*

Allah  ﷻ  say in Surah Al A'raaf:

*وَنَادَىٰٓ أَصۡحَٰبُ ٱلنَّارِ أَصۡحَٰبَ ٱلۡجَنَّةِ أَنۡ أَفِيضُواْ عَلَيۡنَا مِنَ ٱلۡمَآءِ أَوۡ مِمَّا رَزَقَكُمُ ٱللَّهُۚ*

_And the companions of the Fire will call to the companions of Paradise, "Pour upon us some water or from whatever Allah has provided you."_

Sa`id bin Jubayr said on this Ayah, They will call their father or brother,

''I have been burned, so pour some water on me.'' The believers will be asked to reply, and they will reply,

*إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ حَرَّمَهُمَا عَلَى ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ*

_Allah has forbidden them both to the disbelievers_

[7:50]

Means the food and drink of Paradise. 

Allah ﷻ refers to the disbelievers by what they used to do in this life, taking the religion as amusement, and being deceived by this life, rather than working for the Hereafter as Allah ﷻ ordered. 

What do the people of Hell eat?

Allah ﷻ says in Surah Waqi'ah 

*لَـَٔاكِلُونَ مِن شَجَرࣲ مِّن زَقُّومࣲ▪️ فَمَالِـُٔونَ مِنۡهَا ٱلۡبُطُونَ*

_Will be eating from trees of zaqqum And filling with it your bellies_

[56:52-53]

Meaning that they will be made to eat from the Zaqqum tree until they are full

Allah ﷻ describes Az Zaqqum 

1. A tree that springs out from the bottom of the hellfire meaning its roots are in the lowest Hell. 

2. The shoots of its fruit stalks are like the heads of Shayateen. This is how Ugly it is, comparing it with Shayateen who are known to be ugly. 

3. Allah ﷻ mentions it as Poisonous and Thorny and neither nourishing nor satisfying in Surah Ghashiyah.

Then in Surah Waq'iah Allah ﷻ further says:

*فَشَـٰرِبُونَ عَلَیۡهِ مِنَ ٱلۡحَمِیمِ▪️فَشَـٰرِبُونَ شُرۡبَ ٱلۡهِیمِ*

_Then on top of that you will drink boiling water (Hamim) . And you will drink like Al Him_

[56:54-55]

Al-Him is a disease that strikes camels, causing them to feel thirst, they drink until they die. The people of Hell, will never quench their thirst from drinking Hamim.

_

Oh Ibn Adam! Akhirah should be a heavy burden on your minds, yet you take it lightly! Take heed, Reflect and Repent!

Allah ﷻ also says: 

*وَيُسْقَىٰ مِن مَّآءٍۢ صَدِيدٍۢ*

_And he will be given a drink of purulent water._

*يَتَجَرَّعُهُۥ وَلَا يَكَادُ يُسِيغُهُۥ وَيَأْتِيهِ ٱلْمَوْتُ مِن كُلِّ مَكَانٍۢ وَمَا هُوَ بِمَيِّتٍۢ ۖ وَمِن وَرَآئِهِۦ عَذَابٌ غَلِيظٌۭ*

_He will gulp it but will hardly [be able to] swallow it. And death will come to him from everywhere, but he is not to die. And before him is a massive punishment._

[14:16-17]

Muslim reports from Anas ibn Malik that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: _“One of the people of Hell who found the most pleasure in the life of this world will be brought forth on the Day of Resurrection, and will be dipped into the Fire of Hell. Then he will be asked: ‘O son of Adam, have you ever seen anything good? Have you ever enjoyed any pleasure?’ He will say, ‘No, by Allah Almighty, O Rabb’.”_

[Sahih Muslim 2807]
