ATIKAH
BINT 'ABDUL-MUTTALIB (رضي الله عنها)
She accepted Islam and migrated.
She is the one who had the dream of the pagans' destruction at the Battle of Badr.
That dream discouraged her brother Abu Lahab from attending the Battle of Badr.
Atikah bint 'Abdul-Muttalib said,
"I saw a rider standing on Abu Qubays (a mountain in Makkah).
He shouted,
"O people of treachery, O people of evil: you have three days to flee.'
Then he grabbed a boulder and dropped it from Abu Qubays and it shattered into pieces, and parts of it entered every home of the Quraysh except Banu Zuhrah."
Al-'Abbas told her not to inform anyone about her dream.
Al-'Abbas encountered al-Walid bin 'Utbah and informed him of the dream.
Al-Walid mentioned it to his father, and it spread among the people.
When the news spread, Abu Jahl said,
"O Banu 'Abdul-Muttalib, are you pleased that your men pretend to be prophets and now your women pretend to be prophets?! Atikah alleges she had a dream and that you have three days to flee, so we will lie in wait for three days.
If what she says is true, then it will happen, and if three days pass and nothing happens, you all will be the greatest liars in Arabia."
Three days later,
a messenger from Abu Sufyan arrived in the valley, he stood up on his camel and tore his shirt, shouting,
"O Quraysh, the merchant-camels, the merchant-camels!
Muhammad and his Companions are lying in wait for your property, which is with Abu Sufyan.
I do not think that you overtake it.
So come help!."
The Quraysh armed themselves for the Battle of Badr.
However, 'Atikah's brother Abu Lahab did not join the army, saying he was afraid of 'Atikah's dream."
End.
