Abu 'Abdirrahman Yahya bin Ali Al-Hajri's advice to non-Arabic speaking Muslims
Answered by our Shaykh, the 'Allāmah, the Trustworthy Advisor, Abu 'Abdirrahmān Yahya bin 'Ali Al-Hajūri - on the 16th, Rajab, 1444H
🎙"And I advise my listening brothers from those who are Non-Arabs and are not able to speak Arabic to serious try to speak Arabic. And to speak it with his wife and his children and in his house and on the street and during all times and he is speaking it.
So he abandons what he is upon from the Non-Arabic language, even when speaking with his friends, they get used to this. For indeed we have seen a people who speak to you in the Arabic language, but if he sits with his friend in the same sitting and you are present and the people don't understand hjm, he turns to speaking Non-Arabic at that moment.
He gives you a word in Arabic then turns to his friend and gives him a word in Non-Arabic.
With the fact him and his friend are both students, they both are studying Arabic and they both understand it.
This points towards that he could be delayed in understanding Arabic and pronouncing it.
For from the purposes of the language is that a person oppose its people.
Many of those living abroad say they say to you, you don't need to enter school so that you can speak the English language, so what does he do.
He stays in the house of a English family, Jew or Christian, - they have this method there - so he goes with their women folk and their children and so forth.
They dictate to him what to say in English and they also give him Christianity.
So he comes back with the two, his head is spun by both of them.
Many of them perhaps he apostates from his religion, his looses his religion, and if he doesn't lose all of his religion he looses some of it.
I mention this because this disobedience is the reason, the reason for getting this language."
