Covering our faces when we go out does not mean neglecting skincare. Here are some tips to help you look after your skin under niqab:*

1. Make dua to Allah for your skin needs. Nothing is too small to ask Allah.
Aishah رآي Ψ§Ω„Ω„ّΩ‡ ΨΉΩ†Ω‡Ψ§  said: “Ask Allaah for everything, even shoelaces because if Allaah does not make it easy for you to obtain it you will not obtain it.”
[Abu Ya’la 8/44]

2. Keep your skin clean: Wash your face regularly, at least once a day, using a gentle cleanser. This helps remove dirt, sweat, and excess oils that can accumulate on your skin.

3. Moisturise your skin: Hydration is key to maintaining healthy skin. Apply a moisturiser that suits your skin type after cleansing to keep your skin hydrated and prevent dryness. Look for non-comedogenic or oil-free formulas if you have acne-prone skin.

4. Use sunscreen (SPF) : Even though our face is mostly covered, it's still important to protect your skin from the sun's harmful rays. Apply sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 30 especially around your eyes as they are exposed to the rays of the sun. Failing to adequately protect our skin from the sun can result in hyperpigmentation around the eyes.

5. Keep your niqab clean: Regularly wash or change your niqab to prevent the accumulation of dirt, oil, and bacteria that can transfer to your skin and potentially cause breakouts or irritation.

6. Stay hydrated: Drink at least a 1-2l of water throughout the day to keep your skin hydrated from within. Proper hydration contributes greatly to a smooth and healthy complexion.

7. Exfoliate gently: Exfoliation helps remove dead skin cells and promotes a smoother complexion. Use a gentle exfoliator and avoid over-exfoliating, as this can lead to irritation and over-sensitivity.

8. Practice good hygiene: Wash your hands regularly and avoid touching your face unnecessarily to prevent the transfer of bacteria.

Remember, these tips are general recommendations. If you experience persistent skin problems, consult a dermatologist for personalised advice.
