The Last Ayah Revealed
The Great Companion Abdullah Ibn `Abbas (رضي الله عنه) said, "The last Ayah to be revealed from the Quran was,
{وَٱتَّقُواْ يَوۡمً۬ا تُرۡجَعُونَ فِيهِ إِلَى ٱللَّهِۖ ثُمَّ تُوَفَّىٰ كُلُّ نَفۡسٍ۬ مَّا ڪَسَبَتۡ وَهُمۡ لَا يُظۡلَمُونَ}
“Beware of a Day when you will be returned to God: every soul will be paid in full for what it has earned, and no one will be wronged.” (2:281) [Tafsir Ibn Kathir].
Imam Ibn al-Qayyim (رحمه الله) wrote:
“The servant has two standings in front of Allah. A standing in front of Him during the prayer and a standing in front of Him on the day of meeting with Him.
Whoever stood for the first standing, giving it’s due right, the other meeting will become easier for him. And whoever took this standing lightly and did not perform it with it’s due right, the other standing will become hard and severe for him.”
[al-Fawa’id, Pg. 258].
