Ruling on Standing up for Teachers in Islam
Q: What is the religious ruling on standing up for teachers out of respect?A: Girls and boys should not stand up for the teacher; this is at least Makruh (reprehensible). Anas (رضي الله عنه) said: “None among the people was more beloved to them (i.e., the Companions) than the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم), yet when they saw him none of them stood up for him, for they knew how much he hated that.” The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: "Let he who likes people to stand up for him occupy his seat in Hell-fire."
